I Think I'm Retired

I think I am retired from any block exchanges.  I won some cactus blocks, 34 to be exact, but could only use 14 of them due to poor construction techniques. I mean we're talking non-existent seam allowances,  blocks 1/2 inch too small, etc.  Sigh.  So I made some more to put with the 8 I had already made for the pot.  It's a really easy and fun block to make.  This is the first time I've set blocks on-point and had sashing with cornerstones.  Oh, the problems I had.  My brain just could not figure things out!  Hah!  I think I needed to sash each block rather than try to add it row-by-row.  I must have done and redone every seam twice.  I finally finished yesterday after struggling over the past few days.
And wouldn't you know it...  I can't blame anyone for that but me.

Now to decide on how to quilt it.
Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!

These are very cute blocks! It's always sad when you can't use blocks from a bee/swap -- I haven't participated in the Block Lotto, but I am typically very choosy about which bees/swaps I will participate in after a few bad experiences.

Didn't spot it until you pointed it out. Kinda cute, though. Glad you left it to give character. A great quilt.

Pretty colorful mix! Sorry to hear about the poorly made blocks.

Cute blocks and lovely quilt.

I had to laugh though. . . .quilting math is the only math that works in my head. When I was taking college math courses if I could not figure out how to get the theory to relate to quilting it never stuck in my head.

So, I have fun quilts but no college degree. . . yet. I think I have my priorities right, don't you? LOL

Looking forward to see how you quilt it.

I've never done a block exchange and am not likely to, now you point out the dangers! *grins*
I too have made those kinds of errors, most recently on a bear paw block, but was able to fix it.

It's a beautiful quilt. Love the sashing and corner stones you added, though it made you brain hurt. Maybe it get's easier over time? Have not done it yet either, but your layout looks very inspirational.

I found your blog , after seeing you had visited my blog.
Your cactus blocks on- point turned out to be quite beautiful! You would never know the problems that you had to overcome. I think that having the cornerstones and the on- point setting made it doubly troublesome! Well done and so pretty!!
